Boot Stitch + Axis

The Beginning

Diamond in the Rough

This chair was found on the side of the road and rescued by my sweet client and her mom.

The Final Result

Boot Stitch Beauty

This chair taught me a whole new hand stitch skill and really tested my craftsmanship and attention to detail. In the end, I am quite pleased with how all the elaborate details pulled together to produce a bespoke piece of furniture tailored specifically for my client.

I start start each project by stripping 100% of the old upholstery, repairing and refinishing as needed, and finally, outfitting with a sturdy foundation to start the rebuild.

Hand stitching is hard on the hands but pretty on the eyes

Starting to get excited about how the details are coming the details are coming together

Checking for fit and balance of design.

I learned how to saddle stitch in order to execute the thick boot stitch design I had in mind.

In the spirit of "no part goes to waste", my client provided the axis hides for the outside back she had harvested from a recent hunt.
